FREE NAME CHANGE for trans people in Georgia! (yes, this includes nonbinary and genderqueer people)
Atlanta Legal Aid Society will cover the cost of the required publication. Their attorneys actually donate their time to help with the scary paperwork aspects and even attend the hearing with you.
Our volunteer attorneys are offering free representation to low-income transgender and genderqueer individuals seeking a gender-affirming legal name change. We waive attorney fees but you will likely still be responsible for paying filing fees and publication costs (total of about $300). We will work to see if the court will waive the fees but not all clients will qualify for fee waivers from the court.
We have had an increased interest in our project. You can expect a call from us within 7-10 business days but because we have more than 300 new clients you may not be placed with an attorney for 2-3 months. Thank you for your patience.
To contact the Transgender Name Change Project, please call (404) 614-3980, our confidential intake line or leave your name and contact information below. We will contact you to discuss the project and your eligibility. If you wish to learn more about the work of Atlanta Legal Aid, visit atlantalegalaid.org or leave us your name and contact information.
i think……..one of the many problems in how sex is perceived in society is that we seem to think its this isolated “skill” like people are very anxious about getting experience or practice or whatever wrt sex but that’s not really how it works, it’s fundamentally an expression, a conversation; two-sided, subjective, situational, and figuring out what works for everyone involved, as opposed to being just another objective talent to master for all situations as if its one-size-fits-all without consideration to your specific partner
